WordPress 6.4 arrives November 7th 2023 - Here is the list of Enhancements

November 7, 2023 is the date for the latest version of WordPress! WordPress 6.4 will be released.

Depending on your source WordPress is the framework that powers between 43.1 to 45.8% a significant number of websites. And WordPress for sure has the largest ecosystem of any website-building CMS. And the best of all it's Open Source.

Three times a year the worldwide WordPress development team releases a new version of WordPress. The current version is 6.3.2 if your WP website is up to date. 

There will be security fixes to handle the attacks by hackers, as security is always important in todays environment. We focused on the latest enhancements to WP below.

As we get closer to the release date, check this space for a full explainer video of all the new features and updates. Until then here is what we know.

WordPress 6.4 New Features and Enhancements

• Writing Improvements - Enjoy more writing improvements, smoother list merging, including new keyboard shortcuts, and enhanced control over your link settings.
• Gallery and Image Previews - See and locate your content’s media assets at a glance with new gallery and image previews in List View.
• Lightbox Functionality - This feature allows for immersive viewing experiences by enabling lightbox functionality in images.
• Command Palette - New commands in a redesigned Command Palette which helps you find what you need, perform tasks efficiently, and speed up your workflow.
• Group Blocks Renaming - Rename Group blocks to organize and distinguish areas of your content easily.
• Pivotal Script Loading - This feature ensures better performance when loading scripts, thanks to the use of defer and async attributes. What does this mean to you? Your content will load faster, thus making Search Engines like Bing and Google happier to show your site in search results.
• Revamped Toolbar Experience - A redesigned toolbar experience for Navigation, List, and Quote blocks ensures cohesive and organized access to the tooling options you work with.
• Custom Pattern Categories - You can now organize your patterns with your own custom categories. Which is pretty cool.
• Twenty Twenty-Four Default Theme - While there are literally thousands of WordPress themes. Twenty Twenty-Four is the newest default theme that comes "out of the box" for WordPress. If you use an "out of the box" WordPress theme and use the WP Block Editor you might consider upgrading to Twenty Twenty-Four it will have the latest Block Editor enhancements.
