WordPress 5.5 has been released with some nice new features. But before we list some of them, we are encouraging all our clients to delay upgrading to this newest version of WordPress 5.5 that was launched on August 11, 2020. There have been reports of upgrades to WP 5.5 breaking sites.

The reports we have heard have been with site owners still using incredibly old themes and plugins that have not been updated in a several years. This is to be expected.

If you are using our DIY Self-Managed WordPress Hosting, we recommend you wait for 2 to 3 weeks before upgrading your WordPress install to 5.5.

If you would like a development site to set up with your site to test the upgrade (especially if you have old themes and/or plugins), open a WordPress Help Desk Support Ticket and we will be happy set your site up.

For our Managed WordPress Hosting & EZWP Complete clients expect a 2 to 3 week delay before we start your upgrade to WordPress 5.5.

You will want to visit this page ‘WordPress 5.5 “Eckstine”’ to learn what’s new in WordPress 5.5
