Effective December 1, 2016

New ICANN (www.ICANN.org) Rules went into effect regarding changing of the Registrant Details on your domain name record as it relates to Transfers (from one Register to KartHost or KartHost to another Register). These rules are major and will effect you transfering and changing ownership or just changing your details for the Registrant (Official Owner of Domain) Contact area of your domain name.

Here are the details:

  • What the is IRTP
  • How does IRTP impact you
  • What KartHost is doing to aid you in this process

What is the IRTP?

The 'Inter Registrar Transfer Policy' is a new transfer policy by ICANN that affects all ICANN-accredited registars and takes effect from the 1st of December 2016

How does IRTP Impact you?

Any modifications made to the domain names Registrant Contact Area, registrants name, organization and email address this would trigger the IRTP Verification Process.

If you make any changes to the three areas mentioned above this could trigger a 60 Day Lock on your domain name from being Transfered. (Note: this change Does NOT affect the Administrative Contact area)

Once you make changes to the registrants nameorganization and email address you will have 60 days to complete the verification process. You must understand the verification process is an email will be sent to both the OLD email part of the registrant contact and the NEW email address before the change can take place. After 60 days the change will be nullified.

What KartHost is doing to aid you in this process

Should you not have access to the OLD email address you will need to Notifiy KartHost via a Domain Name Support Ticket (do not email open a ticket), and we will help you resolve this issue. But it can be a timely process, so be prepared since this is a new procedure.
